The Charlotte Observer announced the grand opening of the
Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership in the McColl School of Business, held
in February 2010.

Dr. John Bennett, Assistant Professor of Business, was
appointed to the Council of Advisors for Harvard's Institute of Coaching.
The council is comprised of thought-leaders and leading practitioners of

entitled "Theory to Practice: Teaching Strategic Management" at the annual
Academy of Management Conference in Chicago.

published in the International Journal of Coaching in Organizations (IJCO).
His article, "Contracting for Success," defines the challenges of

Conference
Dr. Chuck Bamford, Professor and Dennis Thompson Chair of
Entrepreneurial Leadership, spoke at the 2009 Charlotte-Mecklenburg Summer
Leadership Conference on Monday, July 13. Dr. Bamford followed CMS
Superintendent Dr. Peter Gorman with a talk about "Doing the Right Things."
The audience included all CMS principals, assistant principals and
administrators. More than 700 people were expected to attend.

Conference
Dr. Steven Cox, Associate Professor of Business Administration, and PMBA
student, Michelle Strain, presented their case "Guilt by Association: The
Case of Lance Peanut Butter Crackers" at the 31st Annual Society for Case
Research Workshop on June 26th at Middle Tennessee State University.
Dr. Brad Brooks and McColl School alumnus Bryan Seaford also presented
"Starbucks for Breakfast," which they co-wrote with PMBA student, Chris
Culp.

Students in the McColl School of Business will explore the moral
foundation underlying capitalism through lecture series, retreat and other
programs made possible through a $500,000 gift from BB&T.

Dr. Will Sparks receives first McColl School of Business
Leadership in Teaching Award
Dr. Will Sparks, Associate Professor of Management
Science and Director of Organization Development
programs, received the first annual McColl
School of Business Leadership in Teaching Award.
The award, which is based on teaching excellence,
scholarship and relevant professional engagement outside
of the classroom, was voted on by all current McColl
undergraduate and graduate business students.
